Highlights/ Sample of Coursework:
In this course, I learned to use CONTENTdm to display a collection of museum pieces. I chose to use Dublin Core to standardize the fields in my records. Also, I assigned terms from a controlled vocabulary when assigning subjects for the museum pieces. The project was a chance for me to demonstrate what I had learned about cataloging and controlled vocabularies during the Spring 2013 semester and my previous classes in the Information and Library Science program. As I selected the elements that I would use in my records, I had to take the needs of the Tolland Historical Society into consideration as well as the needs of potential researchers.
- Exercise 2: An Analysis of the Major Railroad Archival Collections Project
- Term Project Part I: A Proposal for a Digital Display of Selected Pieces from the Tolland Historical Society Banking and Insurance Collections
- Term Project Part II: 2013 Tolland Historical Society Banking and Insurance Collections (This is the CONTENTdm collection that I created using photos of pieces from the Tolland Historical Society and following the proposal outlined in "Term Project Part I.")
Thanks to the volunteers at the Tolland Historical Society for their assistance in my term project!
