Highlights/ Sample of Coursework:
I completed a 12 week internship with the U.S. Department of State in Paris, France. During that time, I was working approximately 40 hours per weeks, so I exceeded the amount of time required for ILS 582. In my internship, I spent the morning working with a librarian and the afternoon working with a publisher. The office that I worked at, Africa Regional Services, supports American posts in French-speaking Africa, the Maghreb, and Haiti through library services and a publishing company. This was a great opportunity to put the research skills that I had learned to good use. I prepared and updated "Webliographies," which are similar to reference guides. Also, I got to try creating call numbers using Dewey and made recommendations for book selections. I was working in both French and English. I even got to try a bit of Internet searching in Portuguese, (which I do not speak).
