During this course, I was introduced to thesauruses such as the Art & Architecture Thesaurus and the Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names. I reviewed abstracting software and indexing software. For the final project, I created an index using CINDEX. I was then able to modify the index so that it could function online to allow students and professors in the information and library science fields to locate courses and study abroad programs relating to international and comparative librarianship. Through this course and ILS 606 I have become proficient in the use of controlled vocabularies. This course introduced me to many new software products and allowed me to take a look at their advantages and drawbacks.
