Course Description:
Principles and applications of computers and information technologies in libraries and information centers.
Learning Goals/Outcomes:
Course Objectives:
1. The student will demonstrate mastery of basic terminologies, concepts, and theories related to information science and technology.
2. The student will demonstrate knowledge of technologies used in library including introductory knowledge of computer hardware, software, telecommunication, networks, and digital formats used by libraries.
3. The student will demonstrate mastery of advanced techniques, skills and knowledge necessary for searching the Web.
4. The student will demonstrate mastery of skills and knowledge necessary for the development of a Web page.
5. The student will demonstrate proficiency in using MS Office software programs.

Highlights/ Sample of Coursework:
Through this course, I was introduced to the inner-workings of computers and the drawbacks and benefits of Boolean searching. Also, a variety of other multimedia devices that would be of interest to libraries were introduced. I first heard mention of MARC during this course and attempted to write a website using HTML.
